Exchange Rates

Brings the official daily TCMB rates into your worksheet as a table, for the currency pairs and date range you choose.

In short
Writes the official daily rates published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye into your worksheet as a table, for the currencies and date range you choose. Forex buying, forex selling, banknote buying and banknote selling sit in the same table, as do direct, inverse and cross rates. The output carries the rate date, the source and when it was last published.

What it is for

Exchange Rates brings the official daily rates published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye into Excel. You pick source currencies on one side and target currencies on the other, and every combination you choose lands in a single table.

The Excel problem it solves

Rate data usually reaches Excel by hand or by copying values one at a time from a website. With a few currencies and a few months of history, that becomes slow work and an easy place to make a typing mistake.

When to use it

For finance teams closing a month with one agreed set of rates, accountants converting export and import invoices at the rate of the day, and analysts working with a historical rate series.

Example scenarios

  • Pulling USD/TRY, EUR/TRY and GBP/TRY over the same date range into one table for the month-end report.
  • Converting export invoices to Turkish lira at the TCMB forex selling rate of the invoice date.
  • Working out a cross rate that does not involve the lira, such as EUR/USD, from the published TRY rates.

Modes

  • Latest published rate
  • Historical rates over a date range
  • Multiple currencies on both sides
  • Direct, inverse and cross rates
  • Forex buying / forex selling
  • Banknote buying / banknote selling

What it needs

This tool does not need any data selected first. You choose the source and target currencies, the rate types you want and the date range, then point at the cell where the table should start.

How to use it

  1. Open Exchange Rates from the Finance group on the XLMind ribbon.
  2. Pick source currencies on one side and target currencies on the other; both sides accept more than one.
  3. Tick the rate types you want: forex buying, forex selling, banknote buying, banknote selling.
  4. Choose between the latest published rate and a date range.
  5. Point at the cell where the table should start and create it.

What it produces

A table is written from the cell you pick: each row carries the rate date, the currency pair and the value of every rate type you asked for. The output also states the source of the data and when it was last updated.

Effect on your data and undo

The table is written only to the area you point at, and the rest of your workbook stays as it is. Only the published rate data is downloaded; the contents of your workbook are never sent anywhere.

How it differs from similar tools

Instead of looking rates up and copying them one by one, it turns every currency combination you picked and the whole date range into a single table, with the rate types side by side in the same rows.

Good to know

The data is the official rate published daily by TCMB, not an intraday market price. No row is produced for weekends and public holidays, when no rate is published. Some currencies are published per 100 units in the bulletin; XLMind reads that unit and converts the value to a single unit.

Limitations

The scope is the currencies carried by the TCMB bulletin and the dates it was published on. An internet connection is needed to download the data.

Also

Pairs that do not involve the lira are worked out as cross rates from the published TRY rates, and inverse pairs are written into the table the same way.
