- Finds and pulls out parts of your text using a ready made pattern, and writes what it finds to a new column on the right. Pick a pattern from the list, such as email, phone, date, IBAN or a document code. Custom is at the top if you want to type your own pattern. Your original column is not changed, results are kept as text so codes and leading zeros stay correct, and everything runs inside Excel. A new right-hand column with matches. Your source data stays unchanged; Undo Last brings it back if needed.

Effect on your data and undo
Extract by Pattern does not change your source data; the result is added as a separate item. Undo Last rolls the change back in a single step.
