Process and Bottleneck

Process stages with a bottleneck.

In short
Process stages with a bottleneck. You pick the template from the gallery and map its fields to your cells; the visual stays bound to the data, updates when it changes, and remains freely editable. The source table is untouched.

What it shows

Shows the stages of a process with their capacities and marks the bottleneck, revealing the choke point in the flow.

When to use it

Most useful when you need to finding which step limits capacity in a production or approval process.

Example scenarios

  • Finding which step limits capacity in a production or approval process.
  • Analysts: shows the stages of a process with their capacities and marks the bottleneck, revealing the choke point in the flow.

What it needs

One column with the stage labels and one with the capacity values. You can optionally add the status values and the wait-time values.

How to use it

  1. Select the data range or table you want to visualize.
  2. Open the Charts (Visualizations menu) gallery from the XLMind Plus tab.
  3. Pick the Process and Bottleneck template and map its fields to your cells.
  4. The visual is inserted bound to your data; it refreshes as the cells change.

What it produces

A live SVG chart shape (auto-refresh and edit).

Effect on your data and undo

Process and Bottleneck does not change your source data; the result is added as a separate item. It refreshes automatically when the linked cells change. One click on Undo Last brings everything back.

How it differs from similar tools

It builds a view Excel does not offer natively, as a data-bound, editable visual in one step; the look refreshes when the data changes.

Good to know

Bindings must match the chart's expected shape; auto-refreshes on source change. Requires the listed data fields (stage, capacity).

Limitations

Requires the listed data fields.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the resulting visual?
Yes. It is made of ordinary Excel objects, so colors, text and size are all freely adjustable.
Is the result live?
Yes. It works off your data, so when the source cells change, so does the visual.
Will my table change?
No. Your data stays exactly as it is; only the visual is added to the sheet.
Can I try another look on the same data?
Yes. Just reopen the gallery and pick a different template; the earlier visual remains on the sheet.
