Gauge

A value on a colored gauge with a needle.

In short
A value on a colored gauge with a needle. You pick the template from the gallery and map its fields to your cells; the visual stays bound to the data, updates when it changes, and remains freely editable. The source table is untouched.

What it shows

Places a single value on a colored gauge with a needle to show status against a target at a glance.

When to use it

Typical use: presenting monthly target attainment or a KPI on one gauge.

Example scenarios

  • Presenting monthly target attainment or a KPI on one gauge.
  • Analysts: places a single value on a colored gauge with a needle to show status against a target at a glance.

What it needs

One column with the numeric values to compare. You can optionally add the minimum values, the maximum values and the target values.

How to use it

  1. Select the data range or table you want to visualize.
  2. Open the Charts (Visualizations menu) gallery from the XLMind Plus tab.
  3. Pick the Gauge template and map its fields to your cells.
  4. The visual is inserted bound to your data; it refreshes as the cells change.

What it produces

A live SVG chart shape (auto-refresh and edit).

Effect on your data and undo

Gauge does not change your source data; the result is added as a separate item. It refreshes automatically when the linked cells change. Undo Last reverses it whenever you need.

How it differs from similar tools

It creates this chart type without helper columns, tricks or macros; the result stays bound to your data and remains hand-editable.

Good to know

Bindings must match the chart's expected shape; auto-refreshes on source change. Requires the listed data fields (value (Cell)).

Limitations

Requires the listed data fields (value (Cell)).

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the resulting visual?
Yes. It is made of ordinary Excel objects, so colors, text and size are all freely adjustable.
What happens when I update the cells?
The visual watches the cells it is bound to; change the values and the view redraws itself.
Will my table change?
No. Your data stays exactly as it is; only the visual is added to the sheet.
Can I try another look on the same data?
Yes. Just reopen the gallery and pick a different template; the earlier visual remains on the sheet.
