- In short
- A percentage in a ring. You pick the template from the gallery and map its fields to your cells; the visual stays bound to the data, updates when it changes, and remains freely editable. The source table is untouched.
What it shows
Shows a percentage as a ring, presenting completion in a clean, modern way.
When to use it
Typical use: showing what percentage of a task or budget is complete.
Example scenarios
- Showing what percentage of a task or budget is complete.
- Analysts: shows a percentage as a ring, presenting completion in a clean, modern way.
What it needs
One column with the numeric values to compare. You can optionally add the maximum values and the target values.
How to use it
- Select the data range or table you want to visualize.
- Open the Charts (Visualizations menu) gallery from the XLMind Plus tab.
- Pick the Progress Ring template and map its fields to your cells.
- The visual is inserted bound to your data; it refreshes as the cells change.
What it produces
A live SVG chart shape (auto-refresh and edit).
Effect on your data and undo
Progress Ring does not change your source data; the result is added as a separate item. It refreshes automatically when the linked cells change. Undo Last reverses it whenever you need.
How it differs from similar tools
It builds a view Excel does not offer natively, as a data-bound, editable visual in one step; the look refreshes when the data changes.
Good to know
Bindings must match the chart's expected shape; auto-refreshes on source change. Requires the listed data fields (value (Cell)).
Limitations
Requires the listed data fields (value (Cell)).
Frequently asked questions
- Can I edit the resulting visual?
- Yes. It is made of ordinary Excel objects, so colors, text and size are all freely adjustable.
- Is the result live?
- Yes. It works off your data, so when the source cells change, so does the visual.
- Is my source table modified?
- No. The tool only reads your data; the only addition to the sheet is the visual itself.
- Can I try another look on the same data?
- Yes. Just reopen the gallery and pick a different template; the earlier visual remains on the sheet.
