Lookup from Table

Brings values from a second table into your main table by matching a key column.

In short
Lookup from Table matches a key column and brings values from a second table into the columns to the right of your main table. The default output is static values; you can also have it written as the fill-down-safe XLMIND_LOOKUP formula. Besides exact matching, fuzzy matching is available at High, Medium or Low strictness. The source table stays unchanged and everything runs on your computer.

What it is for

Lookup from Table is used to bring matched values from a lookup table into the main table (XLOOKUP-style).

When to use it

Used when adding customer details to an order list, pulling descriptions from a code list, or matching two tables on a key column.

Example scenarios

  • Bring customer/product details into an orders table by key.

Modes

  • Static values (default)
  • Write as a formula (XLMIND_LOOKUP)
  • Exact match
  • Fuzzy match (High / Medium / Low)

What it needs

Pick main table + lookup table and an options dialog (key pairs, return cols, fuzzy, write-formulas); no-room-right refused; protected refused. Supported data types: text, number, date (by selection).

How to use it

  1. Identify the key column in your main table.
  2. Open Lookup from Table from the Combine and Get group on the XLMind Plus tab.
  3. Pick the source table, the matching column, the field to return, and exact or fuzzy matching.
  4. Confirm; the results are written to the columns right of your main table, as values or as the XLMIND_LOOKUP formula.

What it produces

Results are written to the columns to the right of your main table.

Source data

The source table is left unchanged.

How it differs from similar tools

Compared with find-and-replace rounds, it processes the whole selection in a single pass with no skipped cells, and one step reverses it if needed.

Good to know

Protected cells refused.

Limitations

Protected cells refused.

Also

Formula mode writes the fill-down-safe XLMIND_LOOKUP function; fuzzy matching is chosen as High, Medium or Low rather than a raw percentage.
