- Extract Formula Text produces a copy of your selected range with the same row and column layout. What it is for
Instead of opening cells one by one to inspect a range, this tool writes an exact copy of the selection with every formula spelled out as text. Even where a formula currently returns an error, the copy shows the formula itself rather than the error value, so you can read the cause directly.
The Excel problem it solves
Seeing which cells of a table hold formulas, which hold constants and what each formula does normally means walking through cells one at a time. Excel's Show Formulas view switches the whole sheet and makes the layout hard to read. This tool shows the formula fabric of just your selection on a separate copy, without touching the original view.

What it produces
A copy with the same row and column structure as the source: formula text in formula cells, the same value in constant cells, the same header in header cells, blank where the source is blank. No visible apostrophe is added; font, fill, borders, alignment, column widths and row heights carry over exactly.
Effect on your data and undo
The source range is not changed and no formula is recalculated. The output is a static copy with no live link to the source; if you later edit the source, the copy does not update on its own.
How it differs from similar tools
Unlike Excel's Show Formulas view, it does not flip the whole sheet into a mode; it produces a separate, formatting-preserved copy of just your selection. Unlike FORMULATEXT, it dumps an entire block with its layout in one pass instead of one cell at a time.
Good to know
The output is static; later edits in the source are not reflected in the copy. Formulas that currently produce errors appear in the copy as formula text, not as their error value.
